Get Moving To Australia
You know, in the late eighties there was something of a fascination with Australia. How much of that was due to Paul Hogan and the superb Crocodile Dundee films (though the less said about the third one the better).
While it's not so well advertised in films anymore, Australia is still a hugely popular choice with us Brits looking for an easier lifestyle abroad and who can blame us: the Australian culture is famously unique and I'm sure we all imagine a nice, laid-back sunny environment with never-ending beaches, beers, bbqs and the Minogue sisters.
So, moving to Australia, the easy life. Should be easy to attain, right? Well I'm afraid not. Getting into Oz isn't necessarily a hassle but it's not a cake-walk either. Anyone who's ventured Down Under on holiday will tell you there's some requirements involved in visiting and moving to Australia is no different.
First off, you'll need to pass a couple of tests. You'll need to be in good health as will anybody travelling with you. You'll also need to show that you're of a good and desirable character. You'll also have to decide what visa you're going to apply for.
For most people it will be your skills that enable you to get a visa for moving to Australia. There's a list of skilled occupations and if your occupation is in demand you get extra points.
Once you're in on the technicalities then you've got to think about a few more things other than sun tan lotion. What about your dining table, for example? Can you take it with you? To put it simply: yes. And it's got to be a good idea too. Taking a little bit of home with you is bound to help you settle in.
It's also easy. Thanks to a wealth of international removals companies you needn't be picturing your wardrobes rotating on the luggage collection belts at Adelaide airport.
All household and personal effects entering Australia with you are subject to examination by the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service and should be cleaned up thoroughly before moving day. Basically, if it's going to touch Australian soil it can't carry anything that's going to cause contamination issues - so this applies to your bikes, patio furniture and your golf clubs.
With so much to look into in the way of paperwork, applications and visas, the best bet is to find an international removals company that knows what they're doing when it comes to moving your belongings to Australia. After all, having gone through the process of acquiring a visa it'll help to find a company that means you can put your feet up with the removals process.
